Let me first say that I had a great weekend. It was nice to see Sarah. It’s been way too long since we’ve hung out. It was great to catch up and even better to have her cook (she’s amazing). I also had a bridal shower on Sunday and that was lovely too. I got to see old acquintances and be girly. What made the weekend long was the fact that this weekend my body decided to hate me.

Friday was great. We had every intention of cleaning but of course we got distracted and watch Shutter Island instead. Which you all must watch if you haven’t already. It’s beautifully filmed but you should expect that from Scorsese. I woke up Saturday morning and every joint in my body ached. When I say ached I mean I could barely walk or sit, nothing was either comfortable or pain-free. This normally happens to my knees when it’s about to rain or if the pressure changes too much. Never has it effected my other joints. I was miserable (and it didn’t even rain!) and I still had to clean the apartment. So I hobbled around cleaning the bathrooms while Carl took care of the rest of the apartment, god bless him. Carl eventually gave me a bunch of motrin and I decided to pass out for a few hours before Sarah arrived in the vain hope that I would be better.

The pain was nearly gone by the time Sarah arrived and everything was great. We went food shopping, we ate dinner and watched a movie. THEN my stomach decided it hated me too and I got sick. I guess I ate something bad on Friday but lord knows what it was.

I was still sick Sunday morning but it stopped in time for me to go to the shower and only be an hour late. By the time I got home again I was exhausted. I gave up and passed out on the couch.

Today I feel much better but not 100%. I really don’t know what the heck happened this weekend but I know I don’t like it. As long as my body is done revolting against me I’ll be happy. Though I’m sure the blessed curse will come just to finish me off.

Anyway, I didn’t manage much knitting this weekend but I have split for the fronts on the bog jacket and now hope to finish the knitting this week. I have a feeling that I messed up the upper body of the jacket though. I may have to rip back. I do know 100% that the sleeves are too long but that’s easy, I’ll just roll them up or make a cuff or something. For now I will soldier on.

P.S. I sound so pious in this post…where did that come from?

P.P.S. Just look down at my hand and I have hives! WTF???

I now have two new obsessions, listening to The Outlander and watching Tori & Dean (obviously not at the same time).

I know I’ve talked about The Outlander before but the more I listen the better it is. I really love the way the narrator tells the story. She does different voices for each character, it’s amazing. The only disconcerting thing is when I find myself falling for the hero and then I realize that I’m really falling in love with a woman “acting” as the hero. It feels like I’m in some strange Shakespearean comedy where every one is cross dressing and there confusing love triangles everywhere you look. But really, I don’t care. If I could turn Carl into an over 6 foot, ginger, Scotsman named Jamie I think I would. But the fantasy is never the same as reality and I don’t think I want ginger children so I’ll stick with what I’ve got.  He’s pretty cute, I can’t really complain ;-). Plus I’m not sure he has the legs for a kilt.

I know Tori and Dean is a silly thing to be obsessed with but I kind of like her. Carl went to bed early the other night with a migraine and I was left alone with the remote and randomly started watching the show. I love the little babies and she’s kind of fun. It’s a guilty pleasure and I’m ok with it.

I saw the nutritionist again today and she seemed to be ok with my little hiccup last night. Apparently, she was more worried with my “mucus build up” and the amount of oatmeal I’m eating. I never thought you could have too much oatmeal but I guess you really can. So I now need to find a new breakfast meal which is more difficult than it seems since I HATE eggs. Any ideas? She wants me to stop with the oats for a week so we can see if it’s really the oats. If it’s not the oats it will be the dairy and I really don’t want to give up dairy. I life without cheese is no life at all.

All in all I seem to be doing well with my new eating habits. And feel million percent better which is great. Best of all is all the cooking. I’m loving going to the store and buying fresh ingredients and then coming home and throwing them together and making something that’s hopefully good. Tonight I made a chicken curry type dish with peppers, onions, brown rice and tomato. It was yummy. I think this is going to be a good thing.

My tank is officially done.

Hey Now!!

And it’s a sexy one. After knitting what’s now my future maternity sweater I needed a little sexy. I think I hit the nail on the head. I have a couple ends to weave in still but it’s done to me. I have to say I really like it. I’m going to block it over the weekend and hopefully the yarn will bloom a little more.

The only problem with finishing something is deciding what to work on next. I guess I will be WIP-diving in the morning. Maybe one of the shawls? I wish I had some socks in there. I really want to knit some socks but I can’t get distracted from my goal of stash busting and WIP finishing.

On a different note, I’m now on the hunt for yummy, healthy recipes that will fit into my nutritionists plan. Tonight I pulled out my copy of  You Are What You Eat and decided to try the chickpea burgers with some avocado sauce. They looked great when they came out of the oven and then we ate them…yuck…so bland. Even with the avocado!! I guess I just have to try again tomorrow with a different recipe. Do you have any suggestions? It can’t contain processed foods or sugar. Other than that I can basically eat whatever I want. Cooking is going to be hard without pounds of cheese and butter. And I miss baking…sugar is so good. Ok can’t think about this. I will kick that sugar habit.

One more front to go and then my tank is done!

It has a super deep v-neck so this might become the bewbie tank. I may need to wear something under it. We’ll see when it’s done.

I love working with the Rowan Summer Tweed. It’s a little squeaky on my zeypher needles but the yarn is really soft and the color is super rich.

We’re off to my mom’s for Easter dinner in a few and hopefully she doesn’t have too much chocolate in the house. My little lifestyle change has begun and at the moment I’m not supposed to be having chocolate or refined sugar. I basically have to eat things that come from the ground or a tree or had a mother. It’s been a couple days and so far I’ve been good, I think. The nutritionist will look at my food diary on Thursday and point out all the things that weren’t “good”. I currently have chickpeas soaking so I can make some chickpea burgers tonight before I go to bed. I’m going to be late tomorrow night so I thought I could prepare the burgers ahead of time and just heat them up when I get home. I found a great avocado cream sauce recipe to go on top so I think they’ll be pretty darn yummy. I also picked up buckwheat grouts while we were at the store. Now I need to figure out what to do with them. Anyone know? I think I can make meatloaf type thing with them and maybe I can make some sort of pancake? I wonder if that’s possible…well it’s time to get cleaned up for Easter. Happy Easter, Passover or just plain Happy Sunday.
