I’ve had a nice relaxing weekend. The outing on Friday was actually pretty nice and I didn’t touch my knitting once. The club was beautiful and we were only there for 3 hours. We spent most of our time on a boat ride around the lake and at lunch so I was prety well entertained. Despite my lack of knitting during the outing I managed to finish the leg of the second sock and I’m now working on the cuff. This pair will be done before you know it.

Yesterday we took Dad out for a round of golf. We had a great time but I really sucked. I’m thinking too much. All these lessons have me thinking about too many things. My swing was off, my aim was terrible and by the 16th hole I was too tired from the sun that I could barely swing the club with enough speed to be move the ball any worthwhile distance. But this was the 3rd round I ever played so I can’t expect to be Tiger Woods now can I. On the plus side, my putting is improving!

Carl and I spent the night at my Dad’s. We had lots of wine, a lovely dinner and played with the doggie. It was great. We got back to the city mid morning and Carl left for work. Since then I’ve been plugging away on his sweater. The front is finished and on holders. I need to do the shoulder shaping on the back but I don’t really want to do it right now so I started the cuff of the first sleeve. It looks like I will actually finish this beofre the wedding!!

I don’t have much to say today. Still working on my knee socks and my Bog Jacket. I’m at the point where I have to figure out where to start my shoulder and arm shaping on the jacket plus I have to figure out the color pattern for the arms. I don’t really have the focus at the moment to work it all out so I’m working my way through the knee sock while I think about it. I hope to map it all out this weekend. Once that’s done I can breeze through the jacket and maybe finish the knittng next week. Then I have to trim it in icord and find a zipper. I’m hoping for another FO soon (she says crossing her fingers).

We have an outing at work tomorrow so I don’t have to go to the office which is nice. I do have to spend a few hours at a country club doing nothing. I wish I could golf or take a lesson but I can’t. I’m trying to figure out a project to bring with me while I sit around. It’s between the knee socks and Carl’s sweater. They’re both pretty portable but it’s supposed to hot tomorrow and the thought of knitting an alpaca sweater outside in the heat just makes me cringe but it’s a few hours that I can work on it without him seeing. What to do? I guess I just have to make a decision before I leave tomorrow.

We’re currently watching the Mayor Bloomberg channel (i.e. nyc.gov tv) and the commercials are insane! Everything from help MS to global warming killing children with on train tracks to video pirating. I’m very confused. I don’t know how I feel about all these ads…

Anyway  I want to CONGRATULATIONS to my good friend Sarah who just got engaged!!! I’m so happy for her. She says she can’t stop looking at the ring. I remember those days, it’s so nice!! I still look at mine and smile. Finding yourself in this life is wonderful but finding someone you can be yourself with is simply amazing . I wish them both all the happiness in the world. YAY Sarah!!

I’m going to Maryland Sheep and Wool! Mom and I booked our room this evening and I’m pretty psyched!! I’ve never been to this festival. In fact I’ve only been to Rhinebeck. I need to come up with a game plan though. I can’t really buy yarn but I know I’m going to slip up so I need to start a little MDSW fund so I have a budget to stick to. Hopefully I won’t fall off the wagon like an alcoholic and October Fest.

I finished 9 repeats on my Emily Capelet and I probably have around 5-6 more before I can call this little knit done! I’m really digging this project. It’s fast, pretty and fun. Plus it’s been a great stash buster and I can use more stash buster projects. I especially need something for all these bits of left over yarn I have lying around the house. I keep thinking about knitting little squares and just seaming them together into a rag throw but that’s probably a pipe dream. Any good suggests for using up bits of left over yarn of different weights?

I’m nearly finished with The Outlander and I really don’t want it to end. I have about an hour left to listen to which means I will end up riding the bus in tears some day this week, I can feel it. I really love Claire and Jamie. They’re such a perfect match for each other. Frankly, I think her husband in the real world is a bit of twurp. Claire should have a man’s man. Luckily, the next book in the series is already loaded and ready on my ipod so I won’t be without them for long.

Today was a bit rough. The pollen count is ridiculous so I’ve been in a haze all day. Zyrtec didn’t even work. I’m tired and woren out and just want to sleep. Unfortunately, I’m too young (or old?) to go to sleep at 8:30pm so I’m going to knit for a bit and maybe I’ll just pass out on the couch.

(Carl’s gonna love that title)

Tonya Alpert is my new favorite designer! I love Riverbed. The collar is just awesome. You can pull it up and snuggle in. It looks so inviting. I want to knit this NOW!

Fisherman’s Net is rather lovely as well. It reminds me of the airy shawl I started back in the fall and of course never finished.

See don’t they have the same feel?

My version is knit with 2 balls Karabella Gossamer on size 17 needles. You literally knit stockinette until you run out of yarn. I don’t remember the number of stitches I cast-on but it’s about 18 inches in width and will probably be bigger when I finally finish this thing and block it. Unfortunately, it’s a very finicky thing to knit. The yarn is so fine and the needles SO big that’s hard to actually knit the stitch you want to knit. I think this is the one project where I find it easier to purl. One day I will finish this little bugger I swear.

UPDATE: After adding this to my ravelry projects I learned that this is really a Karabella pattern that you can buy, I guess I just took away all the mystery but really why would you buy this? I’m sorry Karabella but it’s so basic, give it to the people for free.

I also like the Pinot Noir Top. I think it’s something you would wear a lot and it would be comfortable as well as stylish. I really like the slouchy shape and the skirt effect on the bottom is lovely and different.

And let’s not forget Flickering Flame! I’d totally rock this sweater with a great pencil skirt, cool textured tights and some killer heels. It’s stunning.

Let’s face it I’m in love and fighting the urge to buy Haiku Knits: 25 Serenely Beautiful Patterns Inspired by Japanese Design. Must close Ravelry…

I never showed you the finished shrug!

This would be the bridal shower outfit

I actually don’t hate it and I think it looks great with the bridal shower dress. Actually, I bought the dress for Argentina in case we did a fake wedding reception down there with the family that might not be able to make it to the real wedding. We had a party but it was more informal than I thought. It was a great time though and I ate parts of a cow I never thought were edible. And they were surprisingly  yummy. Anyway, I think this outfit will be perfect for whatever my bridesmaids come up with! Now what shoes to wear? I want fabulous high heels since I can’t wear them to the wedding, Carl’s not tall enough (or I’m too tall if you want to look at it that way).

I do have another show and tell item. I recently bought Carl and I matching dork shirts.

It Came Outta Nowhere!

Isn’t it awesome!!! I keep telling Carl it should be our gym wear. He doesn’t find that as funny as I do.

I have a new (to me) designer to share with you all thanks to So KnitPicky. Ori Ami Knits designs are so cool and modern. I really dig them. I think the Airfoil Skirt is my favorite! I have to add it to my queue so I can find it again. I wonder if I have anything in the stash that will work? hmmm…

I finished my third hexagon for joyella yesterday so I think I’m on target to have all the hexagons done by next week so I can seam and knit the sleeves. Sadly, the weather is warming up so I probably won’t be able to wear this until the fall. I can’t wait to see the finish product though. I think it’s going to be really cool.

OOO dinner just arrived…time to eat!
